In 1967, Ronald and Phyllis Patterson founded Theme Events Ltd. to produce their various original events, including the Renaissance Pleasure Faires® in northern and southern California, and the Great Dickens Christmas Fair®, which was originally held at the old “Anchor Works” along the San Francisco waterfront, and is now held annually at the Cow Palace.
Theme Events also originated The Great American Shindig®, the Old California Gold Rush Jubilee and Fiesta®, and many other events…
In 1970, the Pattersons founded the non profit Living History Centre to foster year-round living history educational programs and the valuable learning experiences created when authentic folk history is presented at its fairs and festivals. The programs of the Living History Centre enriched the lives of millions of Faire attendees and hundreds of thousands of school children for nearly 30 years.
Named after the old and beloved red barn on the Blackpoint Forest site, Red Barn Productions continues the traditions established by Theme Events and the Living History Centre, as California's premier presenter of theatrical living history events and parties. We are proud of the rich legacy created by our family and the many dedicated individuals who have “joined the dance.”
